Description
TOWARD SOCIAL CHANGE presents an articulate Peace Agenda that contains twelve distinct proposals for reducing violence to a minimum while promoting and encouraging pleasure-seeking behaviors both in children and adults.
The proposals are based upon research evidence of the often overlooked bioenergetic roots of violence demonstrating how the historical turndown of the pleasure function through morality/moralism resulted in an inevitable upsurge of violence through the neurodissociative brain.
Newest research on early tactile deprivation conducted by James W. Prescott, Ashley Montagu, Frederick Leboyer, Michel Odent and others namely shows the correlation between mother-infant affectional bonding, tactile pleasure and breastfeeding for the development of the healthy, neurointegrative brain and the building of peaceful/affectionate behaviors. The most important research results are:
– Violence is learnt, not inborn, and not part of natural human behavior;
– Violence is a response of the biosystem to the denial of pleasure/desire;
– Violence is a collective malfunctioning of a society that replaced love by morality.
The Peace Agenda consists of the following 12 Proposals:
01/12 – Crime Prevention
02/12 – The Possible Human
03/12 – Fostering Public Sanity
04/12 – Respecting Natural Intimacy
05/12 – Serving Children
06/12 – More Public Education
07/12 – Free Education
08/12 – Politically Neutral Science
09/12 – Humanism and Realism
10/12 – Promoting Pleasure-Seeking Behaviors
11/12 – Male Affection as a Peace Conductor
12/12 – Fostering Permissive Education
This 12-Point Agenda, which I am going to submit to the Obama Administration this coming August 2010, is published as Chapter 15 of my monograph ‘Love or Morality: Social Policy for the 21st Century’ (2010). I will outline here each of the points as a separate proposal. In fact, it makes sense to treat each of the 12 points as a proposal in itself; while they are revolutionary in their totality, it’s absolutely possible to realize only some of them because others may not fit the current political agenda. This is also wise from a point of view of effectiveness. I am not absolutist in my writings on social policy; as a trained lawyer, you cannot be absolutist because this job asks for a good deal of pragmatism, and also a sense of realism, and a feeling for political realities. Generally, it is true that an absolutist life paradigm brings about so much stress for the person herself that it damages health and wellbeing in the long run. In this sense, if I call this agenda my ‘activism’, I am not an activist in the sense many others are. For it’s part of activism today that it’s absolutist in scope and meaning. But I am not. As an advisor to government and industry, you cut your own throat when you are absolutist, when you are dogmatic.
A lot has changed in governments’ attitudes and self-understanding since about the beginning of the 20th century. They have become critical and sensitive, at least the majority of them, for effectiveness issues, and some governments are today at the doorstep to the next revolution, which was voiced to me by a high official of the government of the Kingdom of Brunei, back in 1998. I was giving a presentation about training for their civil servants, and in the introductory speech, this employee of the Ministry of Interior said: ‘We are at a point today to consider the citizen as a customer, not a subordinate, and we want civil servants who share this new paradigm. We want to do away with the old kind of civil servant, the hard-spoken, dry, rude, don’t disturb me kind of person, the character that repells the citizen by their unfriendly manners and style. We want to build and educate an inviting type of civil servant, who is responsive, responsible, empathetic, understanding, communicative and mature, a person who leaves their home in the morning for being fully at the service of the people.’
I have never forgotten this speech, which really surprised me because the Kingdom of Brunei is to this day considered to be one of the most conservative countries in the world. And yet, I had conservations also with other government officials and actually prepared for them a white paper about a future collaboration between government and industry that they fully embraced and promised to implement. This showed me that we are far ahead of what a decade ago was still a dream, or considered as Utopia. In other words, most of our governments today are more progressive than most of our slightly negative citizens would believe to be true. It is then a good time to begin thinking positively also when thinking about governments! These people, and officials from other governments around the world have encouraged me to be bold and to formulate my policy reform ideas, to voice them in public and to publish them. In this sense, I am thankful for the conversations I could have with these highly placed people, who were understanding that my ideas spring forth from a deep-felt sense of integrity toward the ever best for the future of humanity!

Child Protection in the Present Form Equals Slaveholding and is Unconstitutional. I have extensively discussed the topic of child protection in my Idiot Guide to Love (2010), my Idiot Guide to Sanity (2010) and my Idiot Guide to World Peace (2010). Let me be very clear about this, child protection doesn’t serve our children, it serves the industry, and in this case, not only the industry at large, but the specific branch of industry that could be called the ‘child protection industry’. Honestly, if child protection was not a business, I would not really be concerned about it. If it was just another paranoid vague of fundamentalist Christians, I would not even look at it as a lawyer and researcher. But it is not just this.

A Simple Play of Numbers. The United States government increased the budget for the whole of law enforcement in 2009, and projects $26.5 billion for 2010. The enacted Justice budget for 2008 was $22.7 billion. The United States Defense budget was $481.4 billion in 2008, a 62-percent increase over 2001. Additionally, $141.7 billion were allocated for fighting ‘the Global War on Terror’. Together this is more than half a trillion dollars spent for defense purposes only. The budget on Education for 2008 was enacted as $57.2 billion, which is less than one tenth of the military budget.
Proposal 07/12
Free Education begins with Free Media. Free Media Means Non-Commercial(s) Media. The media world is currently changing very much. It used to be entirely commercial, and commercialized, especially in the United States. I argue that commercial media are no free media. It’s of course already better than the media in a communist or otherwise totalitarian system where the government controls the media. It’s one step ahead to have commercial media, but another step is needed to have free media. This step is to have free media in both senses of the word, free in the sense of freely available at no charge and free in the sense of non-biased and as much as possible objective.

More than 70% of American Scientists Are Funded by the Military. They are Not Neutral. It goes against common sense to assume that scientists serve the pure needs of science and are objective in their research when they are in practice government-funded. It is a fact that more than half of all American scientists are funded by the military. To assume in such a case that the total amount of this accumulated research, every year, merits the qualifier ‘objective’ is naive. I would go as far as saying that in any other country of the world, except the before-mentioned Banana republics and undeveloped nations, research tends to be more objective than in the enlightened nation.
Proposal 09/12
We Can Only Evolve from Where we Are, Not From Where We Wish to Be. J. Krishnamurti has convincingly shown in his talks that our culture is pervaded with a misplaced idealism that widely distorts our perception interface and sense of reality. We by and large divide life in what is and what should be, thereby putting up a fence between the world and our idealized version of it. This split really is pathological in that it distorts our entire sense of living. It leads straight to fragmentation in that we will be divided in a realist, that is the one who sees what is, and an idealist or ideologist who longs for what should be, ‘if the world was ideal’.
Proposal 10/12
As Pleasure and Violence are Mutually Exclusive, Society Must Foster Affectional Pleasure. It has been demonstrated by research over the last three decades that there is a mutually exclusive relationship between pleasure and violence. It is first of all the American developmental psychologist James W. Prescott, PhD, who ventured into the daringly new and controversial research on violence that is now to be considered the leading edge in neuroscience, behavioral psychology and research on positive human evolution. I have retraced Prescott’s convincing research in three of my consciousness guides, the Idiot Guide to Consciousness (2010), the Idiot Guide to Sanity (2010) and the Idiot Guide to World Peace (2010), and several of my audio books. Recently, Dr. Prescott has published a DVD entitled The Origins of Love & Violence: Sensory Deprivation and the Developing Brain, which contains a wealth of research documentaries on the roots of violence in our culture.
Proposal 11/12
Homoerotic Affection Gets Males into Balance. Homosexual Attraction Gets Males out of Balance. Developing affection between males, and between males of different generation is of paramount importance for reducing violence. There is no doubt that it is not females but males who are responsible for most violence committed on a daily basis in any given society around the world – and I may add, not just males, but emotionally confused males. What is the emotional confusion that many males are suffering from? It is the idea that yin-values, tenderness, caregiving behaviors, and bonding not for passion or conquest, but for respectful friendship is rather ‘something for females’. Of course, this emotional distortion is by no means a result of nature, but a consequence of culture, wrong culture, which induces in men this kind of simplistic and overly restrictive self-definition.
Proposal 12/12
Promoting the Cause of the Sexual Child is not Pedophilia as the Cause of a Missed Childhood. Developing an argument for permissiveness is not easy in a society that is so highly controlled and that believes in control more than it believes in self-regulation. Nature is based upon self-regulation, not control, upon flow, not upon coercion, upon co-evolving systems, not upon conflicting systems. There are certain social philosophies and scientific doctrines that I do not need to name here, as this is common knowledge, philosophies that made us believe that society is a creative mess that needs antagonism as the motor for all to run smoothly. It is a belief system that says that human aggression is as normal as civil war, and that without aggression there would not be any evolution. It is a belief system that sees violence as ‘imbedded in human nature’ and that assumes that societies in a way need to be violent and destroy themselves so that there is renewal in nature, and renewal in culture.
